Abstract:
Polizei & Wissenschaft 4/2011, S. 13-29
The European Union Judicial Cooperation Unit (Eurojust), in accordance with Article 2 of the Eurojust Resolution, is made up of national representatives sent by each member state. The representatives are chosen in accordance with the legal order of their own state and must possess the qualifications of a state prosecutor, a judge or a member of the police force with equivalent authority. The structure of this body confirms the fact that this is not a European public prosecution authority. While such an institution has indeed been envisaged, the realisation of this goal appears to be unlikely in the near future, as EU member states see this as potentially weakening their internal interests and the role of national public prosecution authorities.
