Abstract:
Facing the crime development and its recent trends, the Federal Criminal Police Office is realizing a notable job growth, especially concerning the higher criminal service. Due to the high requirements for the corresponding selection procedure, an evaluation was conducted with the objective of quality management. The evaluation confirmed a significant positive correlation between general cognitive abilities and the overall academic performance: the higher the individual cognitive abilities, the better the average achievements during the three years of studies. Correlations in the same direction were found between the achievements in the elementary studies and most of the criteria observed in the selection interview. Furthermore there was a significant positive correlation between interpersonal skills observed in the interview and the appraisal in practical trainings. All in all, various procedure components as well as selection criteria tend to have.
