Interdependences Between Police Error Culture and Police Science and Research

Abstract:
Errors of the police are often subject of public reporting. The police are accused by the public, as well as by police science, of having a deficient error culture, that conceals errors and ascribes them to individual #black sheep# within the organisation instead of working them up self-critically and constructively. So far, however, there has been no systematic empirical study of the police error culture by police science and police research.
