Title:
The German Racial Profile Debate: Stigmatization of the Uniformed Police?

Abstract:
The death of the African American George Floyd in May 2020 also sparked a discussion in Germany about racism within the police, whereby it was striking that the terms racism and racial profiling were differentiated differently The aim of this article is to take a sociological perspective on decision-making processes in general before applying it to the control of (supposedly) criminal people with a migration background Building on this, it should be discussed whether the police in Germany practice racial profiling and what consequences the public debate may have.
