The Contribution of Human Rights Education to Dealing with Everyday Racism in Policing
Abstract:
While there is a consensus about the problem of far right beliefs in policing, dealing with everyday racism is especially challenging, as it is mostly not caused by intentional actions This contribution lays out the possibilities for responsibly dealing with everyday racism in policing and points out aims and challenges of implementing human rights education in police training It will be referred to the recent recommendation of the UN-Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Furthermore, by discussing approaches of social philosophy on structural injustice and racism as social domination aspects of responsible policing will be explained.
