Title:
Contributions to Operational Psychology: Self-Reflection and Avoidance in the Training of Specialized Forces and Special Forces

Abstract:
In the context of Operational Psychology, leadership counselling directed at maintaining and enhancing the psychological operational readiness of specialized forces and special forces as well as members of other arms and services performing (extreme) demanding tasks has gained particular relevance. To face such challenges, it is crucial to promote learnable/trainable resilience competencies in dealing with traumatogenic stress as early as during training. The key to psychological training oriented towards members of arms and services required to fulfil extremely demanding tasks is a sufficient degree of self-reflection and permanent, continuous and objective-oriented reflection of avoidance strategies to specifically enable them to grow with their responsibilities and, consequently, enhance their resilience.
