Title:
The police are on their way! Reflections on the pedagogy and didactics of police de-escalation

Abstract:
Seite 29-53

Everyday police work involves conflict and confrontation with violence. While this sometimes requires the use of direct force, the vast majority of operations are resolved through communication and de-escalation. In everyday practice, however, this can encounter difficulties and resistance. These are outlined in the article. Initial and further training should therefore enable police officers to act in a de-escalating manner and with as little violence as possible. However, these training measures can only be successful if a practical model for police de-escalation is adequately taught in a pedagogical and didactic manner. This teaching must take place specifically for different target groups with suitable pedagogical-didactic concepts. This article aims to justify this and identify approaches for overcoming the difficulties and obstacles to optimized de-escalation deployment.
